Tigers Claw Giants
Vancouver 1 Medicine Hat 5

After having a tough time in Calgary the Giants found their way down to Medicine Hat to get spanked again. The home squad after coming off of a hard shootout loss last night in Regina showed they weren’t going to lose this one, coming out hard and scoring five unanswered before giving up their shutout bid in the third. For the second night the Giants failed to get their PP to click going 0 for 3. Medicine Hat were all about their special teams tonight, opening the scoring on a short-handed tally and adding two PP goals as well. The Giants used both goalies again tonight, but only dressed 10 forwards due to trade deadline deals. Mike Piluso, Garry Nunn and Sebastian Svendsen and a bunch of picks (3,3,5) were shipped to Edmonton for Breitkruz and Vincour. The Giants also acquired a tough character Henke from the Hurricanes for a 5th. The team got bigger and deeper and will need it during their extended road trips coming.

Emerson Etem opened the scoring short-handed, just past the mid-point of the first. Joey Frazer padded that lead with a late first period PP tally. Wacey Hamilton scored for the Tigers again on the PP in the second. Matt McKay also potted one in the second. Taylor Gal added another mid-third, making the only question mark left whether or not Tyler Bunz could get the shutout. Craig Cunningham answered that question about 3 minutes later when he put one past the tender. The Giants out shot the Tigers 30-26. The Tigers went 2 for 6 on the PP, while the G’s were 0 for 3. Chris Savage was the lone ref, hmmm. The Giants have a rest back home before heading up to PG for two games next weekend. This will give them time to insert the new boys in the line-up and practice a bit.
