Last Day For Deals In The Dub
No more trades after today

Today is the last day for WHL teams to make tweaks to their squads and find that last piece of the puzzle for the playoff run.

The Giants made a deal on Sunday acquiring 2005 top prospect and Boston Bruin pick that year, Wacey Rabbit. The overage player started the season with the AHL Providence Bruins. The parent club and his agent wanted him to play for a contender, and the Saskatoon Blades saw the Vancouver team as a perfect fit. The Blades traded Rabbit for 18 yr old Kenton Dulle, and a 2nd round 2008 pick in the bantam draft. Dulle is a Craik, Saskatchewan player who seemed to be finding his game with the Giants this season, and is a solid team player who shows up every night ready to play. Rabbit collected 80 goals, 106 assists and 199 PIMs in 259 games with Saskatoon. He will provide blazing speed, leadership and add to the Giants scoring depth.

The Giants might still make some moves as there are a few players who are out there who might fit the current team’s make-up. There’s also a couple of loose ends for the Vancouver franchise to tie up. Dustin Slade, who lead the franchise to the WHL Championship between the pipes last season was suspended after he deserted the team in a huff over playing a 50/50 split, with 17yr old net-minder Tyson Sexsmith and not getting to play in the Regina Pats game. His former team. The Giants could also use one more proven stay at home defenseman as some insurance for their run. It does not look like the Giants are willing to mortgage their future to acquire these pieces of the puzzle though and could stand pat from here on out. The end of this day will tell the tale.
