Welcome to Vancouver Giants HQ
Rules for the Site
This is a forum for posters who are interested in discussing hockey with a particular focus on the Vancouver Giants, but also extending to the leagues which contribute to and enhance the WHL experience. It has been created as a place where Giants fans and fans of the WHL can come and become better informed as well as share their thoughts and views on their team. We trust that the posters will keep their posts to the most appropriate thread.
Ideally this forum will have no restrictions on how members post save by the members themselves and that the site will remain so as long as the posters respect their fellow members, and use some judgment when posting or responding. Should posters insist on using frequent and abusive language they will be ruining it for the other posters as it will be the posters themselves who implement restrictions by their actions. The following are guidelines for the site.
Spamming/Advertising
Members who join with the sole purpose of spamming the site or advertising will be immediately banned. There will be no warnings. If your first post is to ask for something or try to get your spam site seen your IP and username will be banned without delay. Any other posters who include marketing, or advertising of questionable sites in their signatures or in their posts will be warned and asked to remove the offending link, etc. New members who post here will be on a sort of probation for their first 25 posts and any deviation from topics in a thread during this time could result in banning without a warning.
Swearing
To begin with this site will not be implementing embedded filter censors on language. This will change if the posters prove themselves incapable of using their better judgment. Ideally the members themselves will choose and when and where to most effectively use foul language, and at the times when the language is gratuitous will endeavour to filter themselves, either by censoring a part of the word or choosing a different word altogether. Eg: shit, could be sh*t or crap – if used in a gratuitous manner.
Signatures and Avatars
Maximum avatar size will be 100x100 pixels, with a size ceiling of 20KB. The administrators have the right to request any member remove an offensive or potentially irritating signature or avatar. Failure to do so in a timely manner could result in the poster being temporarily banned until the situation is rectified or at worst having their profiles edited to remove the offensive signature or avatar. Large flash-based annoying signatures will not be tolerated. Please use some common sense when you select a signature and ask yourself if you are comfortable having your fellow posters staring at it after every one of your posts.
Welcome to VGHQ
Those are some very basic guidelines to the site. Please utilise the Giants HQ Site News thread to post any site related questions, or suggestions. I hope that you will all enjoy posting here and that this will become a regular forum for the Vancouver Giants community to come and discuss their team.

ideally 200 x 600 maximum.. Keith
but in the ballpark of 100 x 450 is usually a good size -- I won't put specific strictures on sigs unless people become ridiculous. but no flash based epileptic seizure inducing ones.
my current one is 169 x 450 (pixels) .. had to reduce it for whlfans

RE: Welcome to Vancouver Giants HQ
The internet is a great resource for web site design tools that you can either purchase or download for free. While this works for people and companies who have limited budget to spend on building their own website, this also enables them to make the mistake of setting up websites that simply don't work or that turn people off. If you are thinking about venturing into designing your own web site, remember these three cardinal rules:
First, write compelling content. The whole point of having a web site is to have a place where people can go to for information or communicate with you. Your web site design should serve these purposes. If you don't want to invest in fancy website works, at least invest in a good an compelling copy. Make sure that the copy is written in such a way that users will know what they need to know, and will know how to contact your for more information.
